I'm no meteorologist, but isn't the desert supposed to be dry?

It’s been a week friends.

It’s been a long, long week.

But before we get on to apocalypse now, allow me to set the scene.

On Monday, our children returned to school after an extended three week spring/Easter/Eid Al Fitr holiday. For one blissful day, coffees were drunk hot, toilets were visited undisturbed, calls were taken without interruption. And then, the email every Covid-era parent dreads.

Home school time.

Now, I’m Scottish and I’m not made of sugar, so I understand fully the urge to scoff at a city-wide homeschool order being prompted by a rain forecast. But this, we were told, was to be no ordinary shower. They weren’t wrong.
