It’s far from ideal timing, I know - I just returned after being laid up with bronchitis and one newsletter later, I’m pausing subscriptions again. It’s not something I do lightly - but this time, the reasons are a great deal more fun.
The boys and I are off on a half-term holiday and while I started work on today’s newsletter - all about the findings of the UN’s latest Gender Inequality Index - I ran out of time to finish it. The reason? We’re going skiing, it’s a type of holiday we haven’t done before (school trips a lifetime ago aside) and, it turns out, it’s a lot harder to pack for than a normal holiday - especially if you don’t have a spare kidney to sell to buy everything you need new. Which we categorically do not.
We’re going to Georgia - a brilliant budget skiing option from this part of the world - and given we have no idea if we’ll turn out to be the sort of people who’ll still enjoy hurling themselves down a mountain for a week, I’ve spent the last week frantically borrowing every thermal, waterproof and snow boot available to me.
The result is a hodgepodge holiday wardrobe, some pretty heavy suitcases, a half-finished newsletter, and this apology, sent from the departure lounge instead of a full missive because, as ever, the mum guilt is real. If you’re a paid subscriber, thank you for supporting this newsletter and please rest assured, you will not be charged for this week. Subscriptions will resume, along with full newsletter content, upon my return.
Until then, enjoy the spring break, whatever you’re up to. I appreciate you being here. ❤️
